A Gangoh family led by Amjad and Arshad has made Karnal's effigies for over two decades, saying religion never enters the work.
A family of more than 20 members from Gangoh in Uttar Pradesh built a 75-foot Ravana with a rotating neck for the Dussehra ground in Sector 4, Karnal, this year. Led by lead craftsman Amjad and by Arshad, the family has made Karnal’s Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakarna effigies for over two decades. Work began about six weeks before the festival.
