Padma Shri sculptor Nuruddin Ahmed designs Ramayana pandal in Guwahati
The sculptor and about 40 local artisans built a Kishkindha-themed Durga Puja pandal at Bishnupur Bimala Nagar.
Padma Shri sculptor Nuruddin Ahmed designed the Bishnupur Bimala Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja pandal in Guwahati for Durga Puja 2026. Its theme is Kishkindha, the Ramayana kingdom linked to Bali and Sugriv. Visitors pass through tunnels and caves that show scenes from the story. About 40 local Assamese artisans worked on it for nearly two months, on a budget of Rs 35 to 40 lakh. Ahmed has worked on puja pandals in Assam for about 22 years.
